Please note that being on or around your period can affect your sensitivity during treatments. It is up to your discretion if this affects when you would like to schedule your appointment.
1-5 Days Pre-Treatment Prep:
Cannot be pregnant or breastfeeding.
Avoid blood thinners such as aspirin or other anti-inflammatories like ibuprofen, Advil, Motrin, Nuprin, Aleve or Celebrex, and fish oil supplements a week before your treatment.
Avoid drinking alcohol 24 hours before your appointment to lessen your risk of bleeding and bruising.
Avoid chemical peels, sun tans, and facials for 3-5 days prior.
Avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing, and using hair removal creams 5-7 days before treatment.
Aftercare:
A two week appointment for evaluation of results and progress photos is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for patients new to Skin Retreat or new to injectables. Progress photos are beneficial for both the patient and the provider to assess the gradual results and to decide your appropriate skin health plan going forward. When the 2-week follow-up is completed, a 5% discount will be applied to your next tox or filler appointment.
IMPORTANT TO NOTE: Tox + fillers will settle and take full effect by day 14 post-treatment. At the point of 14 days post-treatment, if there are any concerns regarding injectable results, Skin Retreat must be notified immediately to schedule an appointment for a follow-up and re-evaluation and in-person documentation.
Hold off on intense cardio for at least 24 hrs after injections. Raising your blood pressure can lead to bruising and swelling.
To avoid accidental migration of the product, do not lie down for the first 4 hrs after being injected. For the same reasons, try to sleep on your back the first night after injections.
It’s best to avoid alcohol intake for a full day before and after injections. Alcohol is a blood thinner and can increase your risk of bruising and swelling.
Within the first 2 weeks of the injection, avoid facials, massage, or any physical manipulation or pressure on the skin that could potentially cause fillers to accidentally migrate before fully settling in.
Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds and hot environments/liquids, for the first 24 hrs.
Continue to avoid blood thinners and anti-inflammatories for 14 days post-injectables. Tylenol is best for any pain management needs.

You can ice your lips in no longer than 15-minute intervals to assist with swelling and/or discomfort.
It can help to ease swelling to sleep the first night propped up on an extra pillow or two.
To avoid accidental migration of the product, do not lie down for the first 4 hrs after being injected.
Hold off on intense cardio for at least 24 hrs after filler. Raising your blood pressure can lead to additional bruising and swelling.
It’s best to avoid alcohol intake for a full day after injections. Alcohol is a blood thinner and can increase your risk of bruising and swelling.
Within the first 2 weeks of the injection, avoid facials, massage, or any physical manipulation or pressure on the skin that could potentially cause fillers to migrate before fully settling in.
Prevent bruising by applying Arnica gel or taking Arnica tablets. You can purchase it at any pharmacy/drug store.
Swelling expectations: Swelling is normal and expected. It varies for each patient but swelling can look uneven, bumpy, and change daily. Bruising may occur at the point of injections, this is also normal and varies for each patient.
Typical swelling timeline:
Immediately after - Moderate swelling will occur. If a “shelf” look above your top lip is noticeable, no need to panic! It is strictly a result of swelling. Be assured that filler has not been put into the border of your top lip and the look of a ridge will smooth out as your lips fully heal and the swelling calms.
Next day - Swelling will be worse than the day before, and will be the most noticeable 24 hours after.
3-4 days post - Swelling should start to go down and lips will begin to even out
5-7 days post - Swelling should be almost completely down, and bruising should fade.
2 weeks post - Filler will settle and take full effect by day 14 post-treatment. At the point of 14 days post-treatment, if there are any concerns regarding injectable results, Skin Retreat must be notified immediately to schedule an appointment for a follow-up and re-evaluation and in-person documentation.

Aftercare:
Avoid applying ice or any cold compresses to the treatment area
Do not massage your face or apply any unnecessary pressure for 24-48 hours
Do not take blood thinners and anti-inflammatories for at least 2 weeks post-treatment to reduce the risk of bruising and avoid disrupting the potential of your results.
Examples of what to avoid: Ibuprofen, Advil, Motrin, Nuprin, Aleve or Celebrex, and fish oil supplements.
Only Tylenol should be used for discomfort in this 2-week period.
Hold off on intense cardio for at least 24 hrs after injections. Raising your blood pressure can lead to bruising and swelling.
To avoid movement of the gel-like substance, do not lie down for the first 4 hrs after being injected. For the same reasons, try to sleep on your back the first night after injections.
It’s best to avoid alcohol intake for a full day before and after injections. Alcohol is a blood thinner and can increase your risk of bruising and swelling.
Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds and hot environments/liquids, for the first 24 hrs.
Use Arnica Gel or Tablets to assist in bringing down swelling and reduce bruising.
Swelling expectations:
Keep in mind, that this is a natural healing process that takes time. It is triggering a healing response which is what is required to bio-stimulate more collagen and elastin. Therefore, it is expected to experience swelling after your EZ Gel Treatment. You may also experience bruising at the injection sites. In addition, you may feel a small bump/nodule at the injection sites, this is normal and will relieve itself. These side effects are completely normal and vary depending on the patient.
Treatment timeline:
Immediately after: The gel-like substance made from your blood will immediately fill the area injected and last for 3-6 months. You will leave with minor to moderate swelling. The long-term effects of growth factors and collagen production produce continued results for the next 2-6 months, depending on your lifestyle, metabolism, activity level, and other factors. Trust the process!
Being that this is created from your own blood to harness biostimulatory properties, there is no risk of overfilling with EZ Gel. This process is not solely focused on filling, it is also working to build and strengthen the integrity of your skin through natural, bio-stimulatory means.
Next day: When you wake up the next morning, swelling will be worse than the day before, and will be the most noticeable 24-48 hours after. Minor bruising may occur at the injection sites.
1 week after: Swelling and bruising should begin to resolve.
2 weeks after: Swelling and bruising should be gone.
4-6 weeks after: This is the time to book a follow-up appointment to consult with your injector and assess your results. If you would like a second EZ Gel treatment and it is suggested by your injector, this is the time frame you should come in to receive your second treatment.
3-6 months after: The gel-like substance will start to metabolize, and the bio-stimulatory properties will take over by boosting collagen and promoting growth factors to fill and correct the area.
6-12 months after: The rejuvenation benefits of the bio-stimulatory properties will continue to provide results during this time frame.
1-1.5 years after: It is time for your next EZ Gel treatment!

When you schedule an appointment for progress photos 6-8 week post-Sofwave treatment, you will receive a complimentary revitalizing hand laser! Book here.
Progress photos are beneficial for both the patient and the provider to assess the gradual results and to decide your appropriate skin health plan going forward.
1-7 Days Pre-Treatment Prep:
Cannot be pregnant or breastfeeding.
Avoid all botox, filler, or facial treatment within two weeks of treatment.
For coarse facial hair, arrive clean-shaven for a more comfortable experience.
Reasons to not treat with Sofwave: cystic acne, open wounds, metal implants in the treatment area. Please notify us if any of these apply to you.
Expected Downtime:
There is generally zero downtime for this treatment, although some may experience minor swelling or redness.
Expectation of Visible Results:
Typically, an immediate muscle lift is noticeable. Skin tightening and collagen building will gradually build. Full results can be expected in 6 months although visible improvements will develop at an individual pace as early as 2 weeks post-treatment.
Recommended Frequency of Treatment:
Generally, treatments are only needed 1-3 times each year. Additional services spaced out earlier than a year apart are based on preferences and provider recommendations. Treatment frequency tends to be more recurring in the beginning and then, as results build, frequency can lessen and also become more targeted in specific areas. This is why capturing before and after results is so crucial to assessing your proper skin plan.
Aftercare to preserve results:
Wait 24 hrs to resume the use of tretinoin, retinol, and vitamin C
Avoid the use of anti-inflammatories for 14 days. Tylenol is best for any pain management.
-
Please note that being on or around your period can effect your sensitivity during treatments. It is up to your discretion if this affects when you would like to schedule your appointment.
3-5 days Pre-Treatment Prep:
Pause the use of retinoids and acids 4 days before treatment. Use basic face wash and hydrating products only.
Avoid excessive sun exposure 3-5 days pre-treatment.
Medications and antibiotics cannot be taken 5 days before treatments. If necessary, advise your doctor as to whether you need to reschedule your laser treatment in order to not disrupt your medication or antibiotic regimen.
Expected Downtime: “post-workout” looking flush immediately after treatment. Calms within 24-48 hrs. Generally, skin remains light pink for 1-6 days. This can easily be neutralized with a green primer or lightweight foundation. Light shedding of exfoliated skin can be expected within 3-7 days post-treatment. Hydration of all kinds will help speed up the downtime.
Expectation of Visible Results: Immediately skin looks more even and glowing. Collagen and elastin production is stimulated by the laser and will continue to build over time to tighten skin and restore a plumper look. Pores will appear smaller, texture is smoother. Pigmentation and fine lines are lightened. Redness, melasma, and rosacea will have calmed. These effects should last for weeks and will be maintained and improved with repeated consistent laser treatments.
Recommended Frequency of Treatment: Based on upcoming events and needs, all of our laser treatments can be alternated within your skin health plan. We’re happy to map it out with you!
The Glow and Go: Can be scheduled as close together as 14 days apart. Repetition is based on preference and provider discretion.
The Refresh: Scheduled no closer than 4 weeks apart. Repetition based on your preference and provider discretion
The Full Polish: The recommendation is 3 Full Polish lasers 4-6 weeks apart from each other, with results lasting for about 8 months.
Defining Lip Laser: 3 treatments, spread out 2 weeks apart from each other, are recommended when you first start to receive Lip Lasers. After your first 3 treatments, repetition is based on your preference and provider’s discretion.
Aftercare:
Avoid direct sun in the lasered area for 3 days after treatment.
Apply SPF 50 daily
Wait at least 5 days before reintroducing retinoids and acids into your at-home skincare routine. Instead, a simple face wash and a heavier moisturizer are best.
Avoid the use of anti-inflammatories for 14 days. Tylenol is best for any pain management.
